For those of you who are thinking of buying real
estate in balmy, beautiful Southwest Florida, there
is an abundance of realtors and developers in Lee
County to help you find or build the place of your
dreams.
The choice of properties available range from magnificent
waterfront homes, high rise condos, and upscale
gated communities to less expensive single family
homes. You can choose to buy an existing home, a
pre-construction house or buy a plot of land and
have a custom home built.
The real estate market in Lee County has grown
drastically in recent years. In addition to retirees,
many young families have relocated to Florida to
set up home. The climate, the proximity to the beaches
and the laid-back lifestyle are all factors which
have attracted people throughout America to come
and live in the Fort Myers area. Many people who
are in a position to purchase a second home have
decided to purchase real estate in Florida since
it is the ideal place for them to vacation.
The demand for property has given rise to the development
of many new residences and this has also led to
the development of commercial properties, shopping
complexes and other community facilities. The towns
and villages of Lee County have undergone massive
growth, and property values have shot up. Increasingly
more people are buying homes or lots as an investment.
The City of Fort Myers is expanding its boundaries
with many new building projects under way, most
along the Caloosahatchee River. There are plans
to add more than 8,000 new households to Fort Myers
in the next decade. On the opposite side of the
river in North Fort Myers property prices are increasing
as reflected in the rest of the county, but this
is a more affordable area. Beach-front homes, or
properties within close proximity to the beach such
as those on Sanibel, Captiva and Estero Island (the
home of Fort Myers Beach) are exclusive and are
pricey.
Cape Coral has been the most rapidly growing area
over recent years, its popularity attributed to
its many miles of waterfront, and abundance of canal
properties with Gulf access. Bonita Springs and
Estero are increasingly popular, and developers
can’t build residences fast enough. San Carlos
Park and Lehigh Acres attract younger families because
land and home prices are not excessive.
